I am currently a third grade teacher in a lower income school in Charlotte, NC. The students in my classroom come from a very diverse population in which most of them do not have parent support at home. I am writing this proposal in the hopes that I would gain math manipulatives needed for exploration of essential math concepts. The manipulatives that I need in my classroom for daily use are the foam dice, geometric foam shapes, number tiles, and fraction circles. These manipulatives are designed to give all students many opportunities for active, hands-on experiences. The materials that I am requesting are to be used to aiding students in mastering national math standards. The objectives these manipulatives assist with are number sense, numerical operations, geometry, probability, and patterns. Again, all of my students will benefit from these materials! I hope they have the opportunity to use them each and every day!
