We desperately need a class set of basic scientific calculators. Over time the calculators the science department once had have been lost or broken beyond repair. There are no funds available to buy more. While some students can afford to buy calculators many others can not. This puts the have nots at a big disadvantage for labs, tests and other activities. We don't really need any fancy graphing calculators; just a basic calcular the students can use for physical science and other classes requiring math calculations. These calculators will be used in classrooms for about 500 physical science students per year. Students will use the calculators to solve various physics problems and chemical equations. The calculators will aid their learning of the material and will help them to be more successful in the class.
