Mrs. Way from Jacksonville FL is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students composition notebooks, binders, and pencils to have a successful school year as many do not have required school supplies and will need additional supplies for after school tutoring.

My classroom consists of a diverse mixture of students of varying abilities and backgrounds. Many of my students come from single parent homes, including some that have been in homeless situations. A few of my students are academically on grade level. However, most of them are below grade level and struggle to maintain the level of stamina that is required in class. Additionally, many of them have little to no help at home which prompts the need for me to provide after school tutoring.
My goal is to be able to provide every student that I tutor after school to have everything that they need. I am at a Title I school and my parents are thankful that their child can attend after school tutoring. However, because most students come from single parent homes, parents to not have the funds to provided additional supplies-if any at all- for after school tutoring. These supplies will help me to provide the much needed supplies to my students that are needed throughout the year during school and for after school tutoring.
I want my students to enjoy learning without worrying about not having supplies for tutoring.
I am providing free after school tutoring to my students to help close educational gaps and help students master grade level expectations as well as have a successful school year. No one should have to feel ashamed about not being able to have school supplies, such as binders, correction tape, and pencils. The items that I am requested will be used solely to benefit the students. Everything that I am requesting has a purpose in my classroom.
Most of my students come from homes in which families have to work multiple jobs just to provide basic needs. I can imagine the stress of knowing that their child needs additional support for school, and being unable to provide it due to not having enough money. I am hoping that these supplies will allow students to focus on school and learning and not on what they do not have. I would like to every student to be able to have everything that they need at all times. Students will not have to focus on not having materials and having to disrupt the learning process to "borrow" what they don't have. Instead they can focus on the lesson and enjoy learning!
