Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I call my students my kids because in the year we are together they aren't just kids in my class, they are part of my heart! Teachers make a difference in students' lives every day. My goal is to teach, nurture, and help develop my students into wonderful humans. I want the classroom to be fun, enriching, and a safe place students want to come to each and every day.
We are a Title 1 school and all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
The majority of my students are from low-income households. Many of our students do not have technology or books at home. My classroom helps bridge the gap for students who do not have books to read at home.
My Project
My students need hands-on resources to apply the skills they learn during math. The Math In a Flash Discovery Cans are a great way for students to reinforce their key math concepts while using manipulatives. The Math Performance Tasks have real-world tasks that will keep children engaged in fun math activities. The Pop To Win game is a great review of several math skills.
Students can use these in a teacher-led center, cooperative learning centers, or to review before an assessment.
At the end of each year, students need to take a state standardized test and these resources would be a great way to practice the skills in a fun way.
