Our fourth grade is unique. I have students from different backgrounds, cultures, religions, and races. Some students are learning English for the very first time. Some students require special education, and some students are very talented when it comes to learning.
Seeing my students engaged and deeply involved in their own education is a great joy to me.
I strive to provide hands-on learning experiences in a safe environment, where students are free to explore, make real-world connections, and see their knowledge grow and expand!
My Project
In this project, I am asking for math games to help students practice challenging skills in an understandable and relatable way. Presenting concepts we are learning with games builds confidence in math and gives students opportunities to practice without the feelings of pressure!
It has been proven that when math games are played repeatedly, students develop stronger fluency in computations.
Providing games such as 'Smath, Multiply, Divide and Conquer, Clumsy Thief and 'Are You Ready for 5th Grade?' Game Show encourages strategic mathematical thinking as students find different strategies for solving problems and deepen their understanding of numbers. Using games also promotes math talk among students, which fosters academic language and discussion among peers as well as cooperation with others. As a teacher, I can observe students as they play these games and check for understanding in an informal way. Please help my students become better mathematicians through educational math games!
