Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Higher level math starts to become a foreign language to some students. X to the second power plus x to some students will equal three x. A lot of students need visual representations to connect to the concepts presented.
My students are from Santa Ana.
They have had a multitude of changes over the past few years with modernization construction, different administrations as well as teachers. Demographically the school is mostly Hispanic with a good portion of the students being designated as English language learners. The students are friendly and dedicated to learning.
My Project
I would love to have the algebra tiles for the students to hold onto as they visualize the algebraic phrases in their heads. Rather than adding abstract letters together on paper and in their head, they will use the tiles to deduce and solve each equation. The daily skill book will be used to help students.
I work in a lower-income area, and I want to bring new ways of learning math to help each student achieve even more than their own expectations.
This donation will bring needed resources to help my students.
