This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students love math, but need fun, engaging math centers to reinforce their fourth grade math skills. These math skills are essential in putting my students on par with their higher income peers.
My students attend a new charter school in a housing project in Illinois.
Many of my students are eager to learn about the world around them, but because of where they live and their socio-economic status, they rarely get a chance to venture beyond their isolated location. Through academic skill building, like these math centers, I hope to open up new worlds of knowledge and exploration for them.
My Project
I am requesting math centers materials that will help students practice decimals, fractions, multiplication, elapsed time and much more in small groups. These math centers are pre-made and would allow me to differentiate based on students skills, while making sure students are involved in highly relevant, fun centers activities. While students are engaged in this practice I am able to pull small groups of students to review skills.
My students deserve these math centers activities, so that they can practice skills through fun games and projects that will inspire and encourage them to not only love math, but to become better scholars!
