My 2nd grade students are an energetic, curious and diverse group of kiddos that love to learn. I have students from all different backgrounds and cultures. We are diverse in every way imaginable! Many of my students take care of themselves after school and do not have the resources that others might in other areas of the district.
Many of them are responsible for taking care of not only themselves but their siblings after school.
School is their refuge. It provides them with consistency, stability, and acceptance.
I would love to make math more applicable for my students. Starting a math unit off with a picture book about that topic will help my students apply the concept to their own lives. Giving them real life applications in 2nd grade came be difficult, so these will help my little learner's see it for themselves. They will definitely allow my students to visualize the concepts. The math centers I am asking for cover all the different concepts we learn throughout the year. These games will make the concepts more interesting and provide them with a fun and interactive way to review. Using less pencil and paper is my goal with these games!
