Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are a diverse group of learners from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Some have gaps in math understandings and, at this point, see math only as something that is negative and unrewarding.
Your financial help can supply math games that teach in a non-threatening and engaging way.
I am asking for your support to help struggling students and reinforce math skills of all students.
Even though they are brink of becoming young adults, they are still pre-adolescent learners whose self-concepts are being shaped. You can help kids to have a more positive self-image, especially when it comes to math!
My Project
If funded, students will have access to math games that develop, support and reinforce math skills. The social learning component of games cannot be underestimated. The games will be used primarily during indoor recess and at dismissal.
Theses are valuable learning opportunities because students are more relaxed and don't view games as "work".
I have requested games that address interpersonal and intrapersonal learners, so that no one feels excluded or not able to play. My project request underscores the social, emotional and academic needs that frequently need greater attention all day, not just during instructional time or high-stakes assessment tasks.
