What makes learning memorable and meaningful for students? Hands-on learning materials!
My students attend a large elementary school in Virginia.
Our population has high poverty and free/reduced lunch rates. While second graders are generally enthusiastic and excited about learning, when it is reduced to worksheets and rote practice, they lose that spark. Students who are disengaged are not learning to the fullest of their ability.
My Project
These exciting, colorful, and hands-on games will give my students needed practice in various math skills while keeping them engaged and happy about learning. I teach math in small groups and use math games as a rotation. Just a few weeks into school, and my students are tired of the few simple games I have. They would be extremely excited to get fresh games with a higher level of difficulty to test their growing knowledge and provide practice with basic skills and problems solving. Our state standards and tests are becoming more difficult and requiring much more problem solving and visual representation, so the games I have picked out will also prepare my students for the third grade tests.
By donating to this project, you will be supporting students who may not have felt support before.
My students will use these everyday and make their second grade year a successful and memorable one!
