"It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult." -Seneca.
My students are so caring and have such a desire to learn.
However, they do not learn the same way as most students do. They need fun, hand-on games that help them "forget" they're even learning. Let's help give them the tools they need to do this! Our students are unique.
All of our students have some type of academic special needs as well as social and emotional needs that prevent them from learning the same way as their peers. Most of my kids have experienced things that kids their age should not have to experience. They have grown up too fast, and it has left very little time to focus on positive activities. Our school can be quite hectic at times. I want to give them a reason to look forward to school and a place for them to show their creativity and have fun learning how to make friends and keep them!
I have noticed so far this year that my students can't always sit down and listen to me teach for 20 minutes or work on a worksheet for math. They need more interactive activities and I want to give it to them. They are getting bored with the couple of math games that i do have, but they sure do enjoy playing games in order to learn. This project is for them to be able to have fun and learn basic math skills in the project. There games will also help them work better with others, which is important as well.
