Student-led, interactive, and meaningful lessons represent our fifth grade classroom. Teaching at very diverse school is very rewarding and challenging at the same time. The students in my room have very different backgrounds and all have life experiences that bring something special to our class. Keeping the students engaged and building relationships with each other is a daily goal.
These fifth grade leaders are constantly encouraging each other to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas in safe environment.
Our students are always looking for new ways to grow and be leaders in our school and community.
My Project
Fifth grade math can be tough! Helping my students stay motivated and engaged in during math is a daily challenge. Using math games is a great way to overcome those daily challenges. Having multiplication games like SPLAT helps my students strengthen their recall skills. While logic games like Prime Club and What are The Odds teaches students to think critically.
All of these games help students master math skills and build strong relationships with their classmates as they play.
Each game meets a fifth grade Common Core standard and will be aligned to units of study. The students will be learning through play as fifth graders. Who could ask for more?
