My students need hands-on math supplies to enhance their STEM skills. The journals will be for math doodles and practicing writing numbers. The rest of the materials will enhance hands-on learning with math.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students are eager to learn and are very curious. They are ages 3, 4 and 5 in an urban setting. We love to make believe, dance, sing, and think of silly things that will help us learn.
Our community's demographics are changing, and it is becoming more diverse.
In our classroom, we have many different cultures including Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and American. We love to work with the parents as a team to improve our students' education each day.
My Project
With these materials, students will have access to hands-on math materials to enhance their learning through play. They will also be able to keep a journal which will showcase their development with writing numbers, problem solving and number stories.
We need to update our math materials and manipulatives in our classroom to match the ever-changing real world.
With these new materials, children will learn many ways to play and that playing is learning. Also for the children who crave sensory touch, the materials will help soothe them and increase focus for learning. We do not have any other rotating math materials so this would be a very helpful addition to our classroom.
