Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful, energetic kindergarten through fifth grade students. The all of them are learning English as a second language. Additionally, all of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. They also have a learning disability in a specific academic area. Despite having learning disabilities, my students are high achieving, and they constantly meet their academic goals. They have been taught strategies to help them learn and acquire the knowledge they need to not only meet the goals and objectives written in their IEPs, but also meet and exceed district expectations.
Every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way - George Evans.
This is a belief I instill in my students every day. They have the capability to learn; they just learn differently.
My Project
These math folder libraries will help my students apply their knowledge of math concepts to the games they play. It is my hope that with these games, my students will be able to see their learning in its application of the skills and strategies they've learned this year.
Students don't realize they're learning while they're having fun!
These games will make a huge impact in how my students put their learning into practice. As their teacher, I will be able to see what standards and concepts are being applied correctly and which ones need remediation when I assess their completed work.
