Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are culturally diverse. They are from families that only want what is best for them. Although things are not always easy for them they are eager to learn daily and work hard trying to do their best.
What makes them special are that they never allow challenges to stand in their way of reaching their goals.
It amazes me to see how resilient they are. It is truly an honor to work with them each and every day.
My Project
The math games and student read aloud books in this project will allow my students to deepen their content knowledge. In math a lot of what is learned is procedural. Once they how to do a certain math concept such as addition, I want them to have multiple ways that they can apply these skills outside of a traditional pencil and paper. The games will allow them to not only apply these concepts but also force them to work on communication and team work skills that are so important for them to be successful in the real world work force. Literacy is so important in all areas of education. I want give students an opportunity to see that math can be so much more than just numbers and processes.
