More than three fourths of the students in our district come from low income families. The students in my classroom are special education students grades kindergarten through third grade this year with different types of learning disabilities. The grade levels of the students I have may change from year to year. This classroom currently has 16 students. This could change throughout the year as students move in and out or other students qualify for services.
Students in the special education classroom have a wide variety of disabilities from autism, intellectual, behavioral, ADD, ADHD, along with others that hinder their learning abilities.
Our class is in a rural area with three quarters low-income families. Our class is excited about learning and uses many different types of lessons and tools to succeed and achieve our goals.
My Project
Students need many different manipulatives and tools to help with learning math, especially in a Special Education classroom. Students have different needs of the types of tools they are successful with using.
It would be nice to have enough tools to supply students at home when they are required to learn remotely.
The counting cubes, money sets, base ten block sets will allow each student to have a set that they can take home to aide in their work and learning assignment when learning at school or at home. Every student deserves to have the opportunity to have tools and techniques that aid in their learning. Providing my students with supplies they are familiar with when learning at school will help with their learning process.
