My 2nd grade class this year consists of 24 eager learners. I am in a suburban school that does not receive funding from other programs like Title I, making our school budget tight. Many of our supplies are donated by our PTA or purchased out of my own pocket.
Despite being in a suburban school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds.
While many come from privileged backgrounds, many do not. There are students with family serving in the military, students who are English Language Learners, and many more. We are a diverse group of learners. I hope to create an environment that my students can be actively engaged in, and learn not only 2nd grade standards, but life skills, too!
My Project
My students really enjoy going to math game stations when their class work is done. At times, I wonder if they are truly engaged in the activities I have made for them. Many of the games are old and wearing out.
The power pen cards and pens will really keep them engaged while still covering important second grade math concepts!
Each of the card packs covers second grade math standards. The pens will allow more than one student to use the cards at once. The batteries are needed because they are not included with the power pens. I plan to use the storage containers to help organize math centers so students can easily access materials. This will allow them to not waste time while getting their math games. Thank you for your consideration to support my project!
