My students love math in general, especially when it is something they can manipulate or "play". They learn new concepts faster and retain it longer when more modes of learning are used. Bright colors, pieces they can touch and move, and technology make learning fun!
My students are amazing children who happen to have some difficulties when it comes to learning.
That does NOT mean they do not want to learn, or that they don't try their hardest to learn! They love games and materials that are engaging and FUN! Each child depends on me to teach them everything they need to know, and to teach it to them in the ways that each one learns the best! They are each unique and have their own learning styles. I am blessed to be their teacher!
My Project
With the materials we are requesting, my students will become fluent with beginning math skills such as patterning, adding and subtracting. They will be able to use manipulatives, games and technology to improve their skills as partners, individually or independently. I will also be able to gather data from engaging with them in the activities, and be able to use it to improve lessons in the future and reinforce skills that my students may be struggling with.
The donations I am asking for will improve my students ability to add, subtract, and create patterns, which are basic math skills that are necessary for life.
Not only will they be able to perform these skills in groups and as partners, but also independently. Being able to work on their own, and be successful will also improve their self-esteem and help them gain confidence in their abilities. My students lives will be changed for the better if they are able to use amazing materials like these!
