Teaching Special Class Autism grades 1-3 is such an exciting adventure every single day. My kiddos have mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a pencil. Our group loves to work hard and then play hard. We love to sing, hop, jump and learn step by step.
I think one of the key elements in teaching kiddos on the Autism Spectrum Disorder is to have bucket-loads of patience and a love and understanding for their uniqueness.
With your help, we can acquire the tools and skills to reach their goals. My students need access to the specific learning games that will enable them to learn in a different way.
My Project
These place value math games and fishing for sight words reading games will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I have created. My classroom is a place where my students enjoy playing games to enhance our lessons! Our few games create camaraderie between kiddos. These math and reading games have been chosen with my students in mind! I have watched them the past few weeks of school, and I have realised that we need to add games to our center time. Students will be able to communicate more which will help them continue to enjoy learning together.
With these new math and reading games, my students will be able to choose from a variety of activities that will allow them to enhance team learning.
My students already have shown an astonishing interest in helping each other learn, and this project will only help enrich their experiences.
