I have a very diverse group of students who have faced many challenges in their short lives. In our area, financial hardship is real.
Our little school is special, with students and staff that embrace all students for who they are.
Our students embody our school theme of kindness to all.
I want to help these students to spread their kindness to the world as they mature and enter the workforce. I want to give them every advantage that I can, but because we are so rural our declining enrollment is having a negative impact on our budget,. There isn't enough funding to provide the extras that make a classroom both functional and a little extra special. I do what I can personally but it is never enough.
My Project
In a teacher's dream world, all students learn the same and learn well the first time. That is not reality! It takes different methods and practices for all students to learn. That is why manipulatives and other teaching resources such as these are so essential!
My students need to see and hear lessons presented in many different ways.
They don't learn by being told something. They learn by being able to do something and to receive immediate feed back. These materials, including the Math Write and Wipe Boards and the Snap and Slide Number Bonds manipulatives will help them do just that.
