On a daily basis, my students are pushing themselves to become successful scholars inside and outside of the classroom. Of the nearly 1,000 students at the school, over 70% of students are non-native speakers; close to 50% are English Language Learners, 83% of students are considered low-income, and approximately 25% of the students in the school are classified as students with disabilities. They engage in literacy, math, social studies, and science lessons as well as specialties every day.
The majority of my students are also English Language Learners.
A large part of my job is helping my kids develop their language skills and participate in discussions with one another about the various content areas, to push their thinking and maximize their potential for academic success.
My group of fifth grade scholars has been working to build their math fluency skills this year, however we need sets of math flash cards so students can practice their multiplication and division facts!
My students also each need a set of headphones so they can use the audio programs on their Chromebooks.
These headphones will allow the English Language Learners to listen to books and hear texts read to them as they are learning! Students will also be able to listen to individual educational videos on their Chromebooks and then answer comprehension questions in Google Classroom that are related to the texts.
