This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love pixel-art math facts practice and project-based learning units. There is magic that happens for students when math, logic puzzles, creative writing, science, and art collide.

Students come to my class thinking they are going to do math and their eyes go wide when they realize that they will be "doing math" by solving puzzles, combining art, creative writing, and applying math to real-world situations.

My students need access to pixel art math facts practice, project-based learning, and cross-curricular projects so they can engage their whole brain and develop connections to their world.

My students are bright, inquisitive, and love a challenge. I teach gifted students in grades 1-7 in different enrichment groups throughout my day. These students need to practice the same basic skills as their peers, while introducing more challenging puzzle and logic elements to keep them engaged.

Project-based learning units can be time-consuming to develop on your own, and I have found Teachers Pay Teachers to be an invaluable resource in finding Project-based learning units that kids love. Since I teach enrichment groups for 6 different grade levels, I may be teaching as many as 4 different project-based learning units at a time.

This Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will help me purchase Project-based learning units and pixel art math skills practice. I am not provided with a classroom budget, so without your support, I pay entirely out of pocket for these materials.

In our rural district, most of the families work in agriculture. Over 80% of our school children are of Hispanic descent, and many of them are English language learners. Most students participate in the free lunch program.
