My students need math manipulatives and technology including 1 set Hot Dots Math Quiz Cards, 2 Math Whiztm, 2 Facts Interactive Resources - Multiplication and Division, and 4 Hot Dots Power Pens.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Everyone has the memory of sitting in elementary school reciting your multiplication and division facts. From playing games to having quizzes at the end of the week for of multiples of 9, having no clues why the answer was right (because they said so).
As we grow in the world today everything is fast moving and so are our kids.
I have found that through the use of fun games and technology that even the worse student in math is willing to try. Our students love technology and anytime they can get their hands on it they are willing to utilize it.
My Project
My student will use these Hot Dots Math Quiz Cards, Math Whiztm, and Math Facts Interactive Resources - Multiplication and Division materials on a everyday basis during small group times. After a specific lesson has been taught students who were able to understand the material will be aloud to go and use the manipulative and quiz themselves or a partner. To increase understanding students will have to explain why they believe their answer was correct and why they believe other answers are incorrect. Students who were unable to use the manipulative on the first day will eventually be able to use the materials during small group time with the teacher or with a student who was able to explain the work as the week go on.
The donations to this project will improve my classroom because even though we have computers in the room that technology is not always available for use.
By having hands-on material I wouldn't have to rely solely on technology from the computers but also technology that I could use when the computers are down. Students will also be more involved in the learning process and have a deeper understanding of the answers.
