Practice makes perfect! How many times did you hear that as a child? Practicing flashcards over and over was a necessary task to learn the basic skills for advancing in math. Luckily, students today have the opportunity to interact with their math facts through fun and educational games.
I have a class of 30 curious, active and diverse students who are all ready to learn.
In second grade our students come to us with a range of reading levels and from a variety of backgrounds. With this diversity of students needing different instruction, differentiation is a crucial part of the instruction that occurs. Having iPads for students to work at their own levels will enable us to further differentiate throughout the day. Having iPads to enhance our instruction will help all of my students from one who is a developing reader to an advanced reader. The iPads will also be used for students to sharpen their math skills at any level! One of the best parts is that the students receive instant feedback on their progress, motivating them to keep working towards the next level. My students love technology and they will be quickly immersed in their learning when give a chance to learn through interactive games.
My Project
Imagine being able to "play" games to practice your math skills? So many students dread math because they have decided they are not good at it, but this negative feeling about math can change. There are so many apps out there that can engage students with different interests and at different levels. Regardless of the educational app being used they all have a few things in common. They are all engaging, interesting, level based and they provide instant feedback to the student. This instant feedback is like a small pat on the back that keeps many of our students going. While playing a game with headphones on, the students tend to get lost in their learning. By providing iPads to my classroom, you will be helping students "get lost" in their learning, improving their skills in the process.
My students will benefit from iPads, cases and headphones in the classroom to enhance their learning.
I think my students will love the educational activities, videos and games that can be used on these devices. Imagine a class full of learners a trying their hardest and doing their absolute best to have the privilege of using the iPads for learning!
