This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students at our school have become really good mathematics problem solvers. What would take them to the next level is being fluent with their addition and multiplication facts. Having this fluency allows children to spend more of their brain power on reasoning through a mathematics problem and justifying their thinking. We already provide 75 minutes a day of math instruction. What we would like to do it develop a school-wide fact-fluency initiative in way that is engaging and meaningful and wouldn't require more lesson planning of the teacher. We want to create a program that we can monitor progress easily and catch students who may not be progressing at quickly and provide them extra support.
