Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are under the Autism umbrella. They have varying degrees of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
My students with Autism go from students who are non-verbal and show critical communication needs to students who are in need of extensive learning of social and daily life functioning skills.
They are eager to learn every day and become the best they can be with as many learning experiences I can possibly provide them. Every day it's a possibility to gain more and more skills to have a better future.
My Project
These are unprecedented times. However, for most of my students with Autism, they are more than that. These times are scary, uncertain, confusing, and moments of high levels of anxiety. Students will use the materials every time they do Math from home when needing rulers, paper, math journals, coloring pencils and others to solve math problems with the teacher.
The delivery of basic Math related supplies such as rulers, papers, math journals, scissors, color pencils, and others will ensure learning and interactive activities as best as possible because they will have in their possession the basic materials to perform Math from distance.
As a Math teacher of children with autism getting ready to open the school year, I find the need to provide basic resources to my students who are soon to begin a new school year without the usual support I provide in the classroom as far as basic supplies.
