We are using a wonderful math curriculum, whole group. I am looking for supplemental math games to challenge all my students. The supplemental math games will also help students to build their collaborative skills while they work together. The implementation of these materials will greatly enhance the quality of higher level thinking my scholars can achieve.
I teach twenty-five incredible Second Grade scholars!
They come from all over the globe and as a result, many different languages are spoken in my classroom. We have 27% of our students on free or reduced lunch. As a result, many of our scholars' families rely on us to help provide the basics for their children.
We believe that all students have a uniqueness about them AND a desire to learn. Therefore, it is up to us to provide a challenging and fun environment so they can't wait to come to school every day! These classroom supplies will help my Second Grade scholars this year and for years to come.
My Project
In our classroom I run small groups so that children are taught at their individual level. While I am working with one small group, the rest of the class is working independently on various activities.
With these materials including SmartGames and math file folder games, I envision them working together in partners and small groups to problem solve at a higher level. Students will be able to play math games to support the Common Core pencil and paper activities we are already doing in the classroom. These supplemental math file folder games are highly engaging and they are directly aligned with the Common Core.

When that new material is a game, students feel like it is a reward. They don't often realize they are learning when they are playing. These games would bring such life and love of learning to my classroom!
I love teaching 2nd grade! My 2nd grade Scholars minds' are primed to grow and learn new things. I look forward to having these math enrichment activities to challenge their brains in ways that pen and pencil cannot. I cannot financially afford to buy these materials on my own, so it means a great deal to me to be able to enrich my classroom in this way.
