Math Department Teacher and Student Supplies Part 6

My Project

My students have been so resilient this year. Many of their families were victims of the August 8 wildfire that destroyed Lahaina town. They have been impacted in various ways, all processing and grieving differently. Because of the resulting housing crisis many families have moved away. This has led our math department’s funding for basic disposable supplies to be drastically cut over the next three years.

I want to stock up on socioemotional learning resources and basic classroom supplies like a projector for the math department and the students we serve.

The calm strips will hopefully help placate students when their stress and PTSD increases. I hope to have other SEL resources- such as puzzle books and bubbles- to help them relax as well. Other teachers have requested specific items such as a replacement projector to show their Flipped Math and YouTube video lessons were added to the list and I also plan to create an extra stash of supplies in my classroom to draw from when the funding decreases.
