My students come from all across the Clark County School District and are part of a magnet program that connects students to science, technology, coding, math, and robotics. Our school gives students from all cultures, areas, and incomes a place to thrive in an environment full of opportunities.
Students in my classroom are learning math with visual and hands-on options, using different manipulatives, that help them visualize math equations.
They are excited about learning new math skills and they understand that math is a skill they need both now and in their futures to be successful.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, students can choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. At my school, we use flexible seating as a way for students to make choices, which helps them be more engaged and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
Students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The yoga balls will help them with their posture and balance and give them an opportunity to bounce in place to let out some of their energy during lessons.
Because students learn best when they are engaged and have the opportunity to participate, all of the math games and manipulatives will help my students learn their math facts in a fun and engaging way. As a first year teacher, I hope that these additional supplies in my classroom will help my students grow and achieve success!
