My Students
My students are learning how to be strong math students. My goal is to teach them to be innovative, collaborative, creative problem solvers through the lens of mathematics. Many of the students have not seen success in math in their school career, and have a fixed mindset. I want to help them learn that through hard work, they can grow.
My students are in one of the largest and most diverse schools in the state of Colorado.
We have more than 1760 students who come from 70 countries and speak 40 different languages. Nearly 75% of the students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.
My Project
My students work collaboratively in groups, and often present their ideas to the group on the whiteboard. Having chart-sized graph paper will allow clear presentations of graphs for all to see. Having grid paper will emphasize accuracy and precision. It may seem like a silly thing, but a lot of time is wasted sharpening pencils in the math classroom. Having an efficient electric sharpener will ensure that students have what they need to be ready to learn. Organization and predictability are also keys to students success. The storage holders will create spaces for classroom resources that students will be able to access easily.
