Help me give my students math centers for meaningful small group instruction. It is important that students work on their math skills in a hands on way so that the learning is authentic.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are strong and resilient. They love to work with mathematics hands-on. Each and every day is a new day to learn and they look forward to coming to school and doing just that. My students are creative and show me new ways to think about math that I never knew possible.
Detroit is a tough city, but my students are even tougher.
Brilliant, fearless, and technologically savvy. My students want to be prepared with the 21st century skills to take on the world. They love to learn and they brighten up my classroom with joy every day!
My Project
Math centers are extremely necessary for student learning. This is the time that students can get into a small group and explore the mathematical process on their own in a meaningful way.
Learning should authentic and empowering for every student, every minute, every second.
My students will engage with these centers for 30 minutes a day in a small group of four. The group will work on skills that were previously taught during the whole group lesson. This will be a wonderful way to reinforce learning in our classroom and allow students to practice skills in areas that they need more practice in.
