This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I would love for my students to gain self confidence and an early love for math.
My students come from high poverty households.
They are great kids that deserve a great education. Many of my students have never been read to or been given the resources to learn early math skills. I try my best to have a comfortable learning environment for them, but purchasing all of the things they need has been challenging. Our school is a very caring atmosphere where everyone works together for the good of each individual child, but resources are limited.
My Project
I love to see children engaged in learning. The math centers would be utilized after a skill is taught and the students would then go to a math center to practice the skill. I feel it is so important for children to learn by doing. Having these important math resources available would be so appreciated.
Having these resources available for students would definitely improve their academic success.
Practicing all of the skills available in the math centers would help them learn all of the early math skills needed to move on to first grade. It would also teach them in a really fun way I feel they would enjoy.
