How do we prepare students for technology, engineering, and science-based careers that do not even exist yet? We are living in a rapidly growing, fast-paced world that revolves around the internet and technology. As an educator, my challenge is to prepare my young students to think in a way that stimulates their creativity while helping them develop a mathematical and scientific foundation in order to understand the world around them.
The students in my classroom include many gate students who are looking for a way to expand their intellectual horizons.
They are enthusiastic, creative, driven, and engaged. These students are constantly redefining my role as a classroom teacher as we work together and learn from one another's experiences. My ultimate goal for these students is to help them develop a passion for learning that will last a lifetime.
My class loves math centers and I am always looking for new games and experiences for them. The real world problem solving books will help me create lessons that are meaningful to my students.
The dominoes are going to be a class favorite!
I cannot wait to incorporate dominoes into some STEM based challenges for the students during our math time.
And the fraction towers are going to be a great resource to help give students hands-on practice with building fraction models. I have been looking for a great resource to help students develop a concrete understanding of how fractions are related and I think these materials are it.
