90% of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes. I plan to never let this define them.
They are smart, and kind, and curious, and important.
I strive to be the best me every single day- so I can make a better them. They have so much to conquer. My students are 6-7 years old and when they first come to me, they can barely read. My end goal every year is have them leaving being above-average readers. This year, I have the top first grader in AR points. I want this to be an every year thing. With your help, I can.
Being a first year teacher, there are some things I have noticed my students need to work on. This school year, I would like to put more of an emphasis on circle time, calendar, and the days of the week. In elementary, the focus on 100th day of school, so I think it would be nice to count down to it while also learning math. This center activity will allow us to learn about the days of the year, while learning addition and place value. We will incorporate this into our morning routine and start our day on a fun, math, foot!
