This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to walk into a classroom that's not decorated? My kids are bright and deserve to be in a bright room. Our first project will be taking all our geometry formulas and turning them into artwork.
My students come from mostly low income homes.
Our population is 90% free and reduced lunch. These student's are part of a middle school that focuses on per med, pre engineering, and environmental science. They have to apply to this school and maintain B's or higher to stay in the program.
My Project
My students will use the paper, markers, and borders to make their own posters and bulletin boards. Students take ownership when it's their work they see on the walls. I want them to see that they can be creative and use all their math knowledge to educate other students from other classes.
This will make a difference because my students do not have art classes to show their creative side.
I believe in allowing them the ability to incorporate their artistic skills with their math skills will make for a beautiful environment for them to learn again. They love anything hands on and the fact that they can work outside the box will be great for them and their confidence.
