Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

My Students
Over 80 percent of our students are English Language Learners, and all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch due to the socioeconomic status of the families. As a result, the school is a Title I school and the students would benefit from any additional resources that would enhance their educational experience. With remote learning being extended and there is no set date to return, I need to keep them motivated and excited to learn.
My Project
This school year has been the most challenging for both the teachers and students. In an effort to keep the excitement, engagement, and the rigor of instructional learning present the materials contained in this project will allow the students to become proficient with various math operations and skills.
For example, the students will be able to increase their multiplication and division facts by playing a variety of math games with the usage of dice, they will be able to demonstrate their fraction skills and knowledge using the number lines and fraction boards, and I can conduct differentiated instruction with students that are in need of concepts with place value and decimals during small group instruction.
Although we are not in the brick and mortar building, Math can be engaging while learning remotely with the right resources.
Having the various mathematical resources will allow the students to participate in both whole group and small group breakout sessions that will give them the opportunity to engage in rich mathematical discussions and activities. I also know that these resources will keep the students excited to come to math class and great learning will occur.
