My Students
I teach in a self-contained special education classroom. My students have moderate to severe cognitive impairments, Autism, Downs Syndrome, orthopedic impairments, and other impairments that affect their everyday life. I teach kindergarten through 2nd grade in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. My students need hands-on activities to help facilitate learning and make real-world connections. We are excited to start our math stations this next year but need some resources to begin. Thanks for looking at our current project!
My Project
My students have been working with worksheets that have been provided by the district for math. Although using worksheets is beneficial, students with special needs benefit more from concrete, hands-on, materials. I would love to be able to provide my students with the largest selection of learning materials as I can.
Math stations help students use independence and assigned tasks to help create mathematical connections needed for the real-life application.
From shapes to number sense, all the way to addition and subtraction - my students need these resources to succeed in a changing world. I hope that these resources are funded.
