My students love math! However, some students grasp the Common Core concepts more easily than others. My students love playing math games when they finish their classwork for the day and we would love to have more games!
My classroom has a range of learning levels, especially when it comes to math!
Group work and teamwork is a focus for us this year. My students love working together and we have a great learning community. They love playing dice games and card games when they finish their math lesson and classwork early. The games also help review past concepts!
My Project
My students use Mastering Math Games, The Allowance Game and Fractions & Decimals Bingo daily in my classroom. They know that if they finish their work early, then they need to find a game and play independently or with a partner. We need some more team board games to keep us engaged in math. This is especially important to help me differentiate instruction. Almost daily, I have students who grasp the concept quickly. Those students need something fun and math-related that is already prepared and ready to go so they can keep busy while I work with the students who need more practice understanding the concepts.
This project will make a difference in my classroom because it will keep my students engaged in math and it will help extend their learning.
