Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the most resilient, energetic, and inspiring young people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Many of them come from single-parent homes, most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch at our Title I school, and a large number of them have had to endure homelessness. They are also leaders and role models for the younger siblings they help care for while parents are at work.
Regardless of the struggles that they may face, my students still find a way to show up to class smiling every single day.
They are excited about their future and all of the possibilities that await them. While they are aware, it will take a lot of work and dedication to get there. I have never met a more capable group of young people.
My Project
Our classroom environment is centered around kindness, collaboration, and teamwork. Throughout the year, my students work hard to achieve their goals both academically and socially.
I teach my students to reach for the stars and help them gain self-confidence to rise to any challenge!
The students' achievements are a time to celebrate success and make students feel empowered to take that momentum to the next grade level.
My students need math pins that they can keep that will represent their hard work and achievement of current math topics. These topics include number systems, algebraic reasoning, statistics, and many others. Once a student masters an area's content, they will be rewarded with the math pin and a certificate.
My goal is for my students to beam with pride and feel good about themselves as they walk out the door of our classroom for everyone to see their hard work paying off. Please help me honor each one of my students in a special way by providing our class with these pins.
