My students need hands-on folder games for math activities that they can use during small group math that will deepen their understanding of mathematics as well as let them work at their own pace.
Our school is a large Urban school in Nebraska with a population of over 600 students. Our classroom is in a title one school that is located in a culturally and economically diverse neighborhood. 85% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. A majority of our students come from homes with little access to necessities. My students do not have much at home and are unable to provide much to help with their educations at school. We have students that speak multiple languages and come from all over the world. Our diverse culture makes the learning ranges in our classroom very large. The goal of our school is every child everyday prepared for success!
My Project
Students will use the folder games and other materials in differentiated math rotations to improve mathematics skills in the classroom. The activities will allow for students to use and apply their mathematics skills in a variety of different ways.
Students will be able to use the activities to learn at their own pace and to enjoy mathematics.
The activities will reinforce skills students have been working on in the classroom and help build those skills so that students can gain a deeper understanding of mathematics. These supplies will allow my students to use a variety of new and exciting math activities that they do not have access to at this time because of the lack of resources of our building.
