Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low socioeconomic households. Many of them rent rooms or apartments with multiple families. All of my students are second language learners. My school has 100% free breakfast, brunch, and lunch.
My students are so excited and enthusiastic about coming to school to learn.
They eagerly read books and discuss them with classmates. Writing is done every day, and they love to share out in the author's chair. We need more resources so that students can get to grade level.
My Project
Distance learning has been challenging, but luckily thanks to DonorsChoose, I had some math and science journals in my classroom that I was able to send home with students when this first started. I am hoping to keep my students learning by extending what has been taught this past year by giving students each a math and science journal to keep them going throughout the end of distance learning this school year. All of my students receive a free breakfast and lunch, and I am hoping that by continuing to give them materials to practice and improve on the math and science skills they were taught that they won't lose too much during this challenging time.
