Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day includes a lot of talking, discussions, and exploration. Our biggest challenge is the difference in skills among all of our students.
We are a kindergarten dual language classroom in a public school in Connecticut.
Our students are learning English and Spanish in our program. They are learning to read and write in both languages. Our students are motivated and excited to learn two languages! Many of my students receive free and reduced lunch.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will provide hands-on exploration in the areas of math and science. Those two subjects could become dull if they are taught the same way all the time, and just by spoken explanation. It would be absolutely wonderful to have these activities to incorporate in their centers and enrich their understanding of the concepts. We would use the double dice, game, and dominoes to reinforce addition and subtraction concepts. We would use the the STEM and other science materials to reinforce our science concepts with concrete, hands-on materials.
This donation would mean so much to my students and me.
They love working with manipulatives and I know from experience that they will understand the concepts better with a visual and something that keeps their hands busy. The donation will reinforce what we are learning in class, and will improve understanding.
