This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are preschool and kindergarten special education students. Many of them are served ad spend time in the regular preschool or kindergarten classroom. Most of my students receive speech and other supplemental services. They are supported by the special education teacher and paraprofessionals.
The students I serve have made tremendous progress with their preschool and kindergarten skills.
They have worked really hard learning to recognize the alphabet, numbers, and writing their names. They have been included and accepted by the regular education teacher and children in the classroom. I am proud of the achievements they have made.
My Project
I serve special education students that are in a regular education kindergarten classroom. These materials will help them master the kindergarten math and reading curriculum to be promoted to first grade. They respond well to hands on colorful manipulatives and materials. The Lakeshore items that I have chosen will be an asset to the classroom and will be greatly used by my students as well as the regular education students. I chose alphabet, colors, and shapes puzzles. Also, I picked out an ice cream scoop game to help students learns numbers and counting. I found an alphabet hide and seek game to work on letter recognition and matching. My students just need a little extra practice to learn the kindergarten skills and these items will help enhance their learning.
