My students need math and reading resources to help with fluency!

As a first year teacher coming into a classroom, I have realized how much impact one person can have on our future leaders. My students are definitely leaders in the classroom. We are a Title I school located in Georgia, and we have limited funding. Most of my students fall within or below the poverty level. Although my students face many challenges in their daily life they come to school eager to learn. My students love to be challenged and ready to accomplish any task given to them.
My students have a passion for reading and math. The reading books will allow my students to improve their reading fluency while helping them practice reading comprehension skills. Reading third grade leveled text will also prepare my students for the Georgia Milestones Assessment which includes on grade level text that students have to read. The majority of my students are not reading on grade level and these books will give them the opportunity to read grade level text independently as they build stamina throughout the reading process. My students also have a passion for math. My students are eager to learn new math concepts and strategies no matter how hard the task. Most of the time my students find that it is hard to learn a new math skill because of lack of knowledge of math facts. With the math sharks and the math electronic flash cards my students will become fluent in various math facts and this will not only boost their confidence in class but their understanding of new math concepts and strategies.
