Third Grade is an awesome grade to teach because eight and nine year's love for learning is overwhelming! Our class is no exception. This Donor's Choice Project will help fuel this enthusiasm by helping us reach even higher levels of academic achievement in our classroom because my class benefits a great deal from hands-on opportunities in math. Like many others in their generation, they also benefit a lot from on-line learning, as well as expressing themselves through creative computer programs.
My Project
B.B. King once said, "The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." This project includes math wipe boards that will help our class remember Third Grade math skills for a lifetime. My class is very visual, and it can be difficult for them to draw visual math strategies, such as perfectly spaced fraction number lines that allow one to see equivalent fractions. These pre-made math wipe boards from Lakeshore solve that problem, as well as they will help them visualize math concepts better. Our current inexpensive earbuds not only provide poor sound quality, but they are constant need of replacement because they break easily so my project also includes, a class set of durable headphones, which will enable our class to access the on-line reading, math, science, and social studies programs in a more meaningful way.
