Help me give my students the love of reading and the exploratory world of math through the books and manipulatives that could open a world to so much more learning and fun!
My students are truly amazing! They come from a great community of people and come to school daily ready to learn. I have a variety of learners in my inclusion classroom, with abilities ranging from below average to above average. Our school has students that come from various economic statuses. They all participate and put forth their best effort each day both academically and socially. I have students that come from backgrounds that would make it extremely hard to focus in class; however, they come to school each day with a smile on their faces and determination in their hearts to do their best and make us proud.
This year, I am transitioning from a fifth-grade teaching environment to a first-grade teaching environment which opens up a new realm of possibilities for learning to occur!
We need lots of hands-on activities for our little inquiring minds, from interactive books to games, math tubs, reading tubs, morning tubs, etc. that will contain lots of tools to help them learn!
My Project
My students will be able to listen to read alouds, use the math manipulatives during math stations and morning tubs where they are free to explore and listen to the audiobooks during literacy stations. These stations allow students the ability to explore, read, write, and have fun through hands-on experiences. Students will work independently and in small groups where they will have the opportunity to learn and grow together. Students will also have the ability to create stories that are similar to those that we will read in class. They will highlight story elements and will grow their love and desire to read.
