As a first year teacher, I am eager about teaching my 15 kindergarten students! Since this is my first classroom, I do not have any materials. I need engaging activities in order to help my students grow academically and socially!
The students in my classroom are a diverse set of learners that come from many different cultural backgrounds.
Since the classroom is integrated, five of my students have special needs. Teaching in an urban district, many of my students are English Language Learners and have various social and academic needs. Our school is an Expanded Learning Time School and a Title I school.
My Project
As a first year teacher in an urban setting, I need math and literacy activities that will help making learning fun and engaging. I specifically need activities for small group instruction. These activities will allow me to have concrete, hands-on materials for learning.
Some of the activities I am asking for are activities for subtraction, addition, number recognition, letter recognition, sight words and CVC building.
These activities align with the Massachusetts State Standards and will allow my students to learn literacy and math skills in a meaningful manner. These activities will be used during differentiated and independent small group time.
