This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together, which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day. This helps them learn to focus and improve self control issues.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. We need ways to be active and help us learn to control our ADHD tendencies. There is so much to learn.
My Project
Fine motor skills are extremely needy in this kindergarten class. With this dough material and these math counters, we will get to improve in many ways. We will get to roll out doughy snakes and form them into letters, shapes and numbers. We will leaner about cookie cutter shapes and we will practice our colors.
These counters will truly help us focus on our Math skills.
We will sort by shapes and colors, build patterns and do simple addition and subtraction. It will be fun. It will be colorful and we will work together... just like we should in Kindergarten.
