Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Ben Franklin. My 1st graders are eager learners who love to explore. Hands-on learning in my classroom encourages lifelong learning and creative thinking.
I believe in setting high expectations in an environment that will prepare them thoroughly for 2nd grade.
I have creative students with amazing talents ready to be unleashed. Their favorite part of the day is center time. They love to learn independently through games and hands-on interactive experiences. All my students learn differently, which makes it crucial to offer a variety of centers to fit individual needs. High-quality center support for our kinesthetic learners, visual learners, and auditory learners too, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to be successful with their mode and style of learning. The teachers at my school do what we can to support these hands-on learning centers, but limited funds prevent us from upgrading and enhancing our classrooms.
My Project
As my district pushes the importance of guided math centers, my students need to be independently engaged, while I work with a small group of students. The VersaTiles math kit gives my students exactly that.
VersaTiles will help increase my students math skills and boost their confidence while taking responsibility for their own learning.
They are aligned with state and national standards. Students learn best when they are having fun. This kit will be a great addition to my classroom that will captivate their interest with the puzzle format self-checking method. It's a hands-on math that's fun and sparks curiosity.
