Materials to Help Students with Disabilities Learn and Expand Language
Help me give my students materials to enhance their language skills. These items will assist AAC users (non-verbal students or students severely limited expressive language) and other students in expanding their language and communication abilities.
I teach at a Title I school in Utah where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch and over 50% of our students are ethnic minorities. I work with many amazing and diverse students who have various challenges in their home environment they enter school with.
I teach students with and without intellectual disability who need extra support to succeed beyond what other students receive.
I teach students with a wide variety of deficits in speech, language and intellectual deficits.
My Project
These materials are to help the students at my schools develop their language skills. All of my students need specialized instruction and help to make themselves understood, and some even need help with the most basic forms of communicating their basic wants and needs.
These materials are to help student in and out of the functional skills classroom develop skills that will help them be more successful in the classroom and in their life in general.
The materials will provide them with opportunities to engage with literacy, verbal expression, vocabulary development, social skills and their ability to answer and understand simple questions.
